BriskQuiz ("we," "us," or "our") operates briskquiz.com (the "Service"). This page explains what information we collect when you use BriskQuiz, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Information we collect

Account information

Creating an account is optional — you can play quizzes without signing up. If you do sign up, we use Amazon Cognito to handle authentication. You provide your email address, first name, last name, and a password. Your password is managed entirely by Cognito; we never see or store it ourselves.

Profile information you choose to add

From your profile page you can optionally add your age, sex, city, country, mobile number, an avatar, and a short "about me" bio. None of this is required to use BriskQuiz.

Information collected automatically

  • At signup, we use your IP address once to suggest your country on the signup form. We don't otherwise store or track your IP address.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, quizzes played, general traffic patterns). This is aggregated usage data, not tied to your name unless you're signed in.
  • Your quiz results, scores, and play streaks are recorded against your account so we can show your leaderboard ranking and progress.

What's public on the leaderboard

BriskQuiz's leaderboard is public. If you play quizzes while signed in, your first name, last name, avatar, current streak, and score appear in leaderboard rankings that anyone can view. Clicking through to your profile card also shows your "about me" bio, strongest category, member-since date, sex, city, and country — whichever of those you've chosen to fill in.

Your email address, age, and mobile number are never shown publicly — they're used only internally and are not displayed anywhere on the site.

How we use your information

  • To create and secure your account, and let you sign in
  • To run the quiz features you use directly: saving scores, calculating leaderboard rank, and tracking play streaks
  • To personalize your profile page and public leaderboard profile
  • To understand overall site usage and improve BriskQuiz (via Google Analytics)

Cookies and similar technologies

When you sign in, we store your session token in your browser's local storage so you stay logged in — this is not a tracking cookie and is only readable by BriskQuiz. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to measure site usage; see Google's policy linked below for details and opt-out options.

BriskQuiz is free to use and we intend to support it with Google AdSense advertising. When ads are enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visit to this and other sites. You can review and control ad personalization through Google's Ad Center.

Third-party services we use

  • Amazon Cognito (AWS) — handles account creation, login, and password storage.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — a spam/bot-detection check shown on the signup form. It processes some technical signals about your browser/device to confirm you're not a bot; see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics — site usage analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdSense — planned advertising to keep BriskQuiz free. See how Google uses data for ads.

Data retention

We keep your account and profile information for as long as your account exists.

Your choices

  • You can view and update most of your profile information any time from your Profile page.
  • You can play quizzes without an account if you'd rather not appear on the leaderboard.

Children's privacy

BriskQuiz is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including using a service (Amazon Cognito) that's purpose-built for secure authentication. That said, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of BriskQuiz after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
