About Science & Nature Quizzes

Science is not a pile of facts but a way of finding things out, and nature is the biggest laboratory there is. This SuperCategory is about both: how the world and everything in it actually works, from the cells of your own body to the rock under your feet, the weather over your head and the stars beyond. The quizzes favour understanding over jargon, describing a thing and asking you to name it, then explaining what it does, how we know, and why the common misconception is wrong.

It ranges across the whole of science and the natural world. The human body: its organs and systems, the skeleton and muscles, the brain and nerves, blood, breathing, digestion, hormones and the senses. The Earth: its rocks, minerals and gemstones, its volcanoes, earthquakes and drifting plates, its oceans and its weather. The sky: the planets and moons of the solar system, and out past them the stars, galaxies and the shape of the universe. And the stuff everything is made of, the chemical elements and the forces that govern them.

Where a photograph or a diagram genuinely helps, and does not simply hand over the answer, it is shown with the question; a great deal of the imagery for these topics, from space agencies and geological surveys, is in the public domain. Every claim is checked against reliable sources, and the wording is kept plain enough to follow without a science degree.
