About Revolt of 1857: Causes & Impact

In May 1857, a mutiny of Bengal Army sepoys at Meerut exploded into the largest armed challenge British rule in India would ever face. This quiz covers that whole uprising, from its many causes to its lasting consequences.

It starts with the political, economic, social, religious, and military grievances that had been building for years, and the greased cartridges that finally sparked open revolt.
