Beyond their joint Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership, India's engagement with each of the five Nordic countries at the Third India-Nordic Summit in Oslo, in May 2026, carried its own distinct, country-specific focus. With Iceland, India is looking to collaborate on geothermal energy and fisheries, drawing on Iceland's deep technical expertise; India itself holds an estimated 10.6 GW of geothermal potential, in regions such as Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, that Icelandic technical support could help unlock.

With Norway, cooperation centres on the blue economy and Arctic cooperation, reflecting Norway's own long maritime and polar expertise. With Finland, the focus lies in telecom and digital infrastructure, an area where Finnish companies remain global leaders. With Denmark, cooperation is centred on cybersecurity and healthcare, while with Sweden, the partnership leans toward advanced manufacturing.

Nordic expertise more broadly, in shipbuilding, renewable energy, Arctic research, institutional finance, and advanced defence systems, aligns closely with India's own long-term developmental and geopolitical priorities. On the margins of the summit itself, the Indian Prime Minister also held a separate bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Iceland, underlining how these country-specific tracks run alongside, not instead of, the summit's own collective Nordic-wide outcomes.
