The Third India-Nordic Summit was held in Oslo, Norway, on 19 May 2026, marking a significant expansion of India's engagement with northern Europe. The participating leaders elevated the relationship to a Green Technology and Innovation Strategic Partnership, seeking to combine India's market scale, manufacturing capacity, and skilled workforce with Nordic expertise in sustainability and advanced technology. Alongside this plurilateral elevation, India also separately elevated its own bilateral relations to the Strategic Partnership level with both Norway and Sweden at the summit.

The discussions covered renewable energy, green hydrogen, low-emission industries, water management, and advanced technology, while maritime cooperation included green shipping, shipbuilding, and sustainable ship recycling within a circular economy. The leaders also supported deeper collaboration between universities, laboratories, start-ups, and business incubators, including joint research in emerging communication technologies.

Trade and investment formed another important component, with the leaders proposing to use India's recent trade arrangements with European partners to improve market access. Nordic firms were invited to explore opportunities in India's green transition, defence manufacturing, and financial-services ecosystem, including at GIFT City in Gujarat, while greater movement of students, researchers, and skilled professionals was encouraged. The partnership also carried a wider strategic dimension, since changes in the polar region affect global climate systems and shipping routes, alongside discussions on the conflicts in Europe and West Asia and the need to reform global governance institutions.
